Badwater Basin turned into a reflecting pool. This is usually nothing more than a brackish puddle; the normally less-than 2-inch annual rainfall is overwhelmed by a 150% evaporation rate. The record-breaking rainfall of this season turned the puddle into a 5 mile long reflecting pool. Badwater Basin is the lowest point in North America at 282 feet below sea level. On the cliffs to the right of what's shown in this photo is a marker high above showing actual sea level.
