The Ocean Institute in Dana Point, California, is nationally recognized for its for its hands-on marine science, environmental education and maritime history programs. Docked in front of the Institute are the Research Vessel "Sea Explorer" and the tall ship "Pilgrim", a reproduction of the brig immortalized by Richard Henry Dana in his book "Two Years Before the Mast".
